Biography
I grew up on a small dairy farm in southwestern Wisconsin, and this background inspired my interest in nature and the outdoors. I followed that passion to the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point where I majored in Wildlife Ecology for my undergraduate education. I have spent the last couple years since graduation working for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) where I have been involved in various wildlife and human dimensions research efforts. Most recently, I worked for the WDNR as a Natural Resources Research Scientist where I have assisted with human dimensions research efforts covering diverse natural resource topics. Through these experiences, I’ve found that my interests are primarily focused at the intersection of human dimensions research and wildlife management. I am excited to continue to explore this intersection through my master’s project which will assess various motivations and characteristics of deer hunters, and how these factors may predict deer hunter harvest success of antlered and antlerless deer during the 9-day gun season in Wisconsin.
In my free time, I enjoy nature photography and exploring new natural areas and state parks.
