Van Deelen – Drake Lab
Department of Forest and Wildlife Ecology, University of Wisconsin – Madison
Picture yourself as a professional wildlife conservationist! The field of professional wildlife conservation is complex and includes scientific, human social, ethic, cultural and even religious dimensions. We need people with diverse interests from diverse backgrounds to make conservation effective.
Unfortunately, wildlife professionals lack diversity. For conservation to be fully effective, wild animals need a fuller representation of people of color, first nations people, and people from urban backgrounds to imagine themselves as wildlife scientists, wildlife managers, and wildlife policy decision-makers. And, we want to help. Please follow our lab’s twitter account for cool wildlife content generated by the lab. Consider having us talk to your class or organization about the research we do and make sure to share our cool wildlife content with your friends and family.
Contact us if you have questions about how to get into the field.
